v.(动词)ask的基本意思是“问,询问”,指对不知道或不明白的事情、道理、情况提出问题请别人解答,或向别人打听、探询以便了解,所问之事与被询问者可能有关,也可能无关。ask还可作“请求,要求”解,指说明自己的请求和愿望,以获得所要的东西或所要达到的目的,有期望答复(特别是肯定的答复)的含义。ask还可引申表示“邀请”。ask是最普通的不带感***彩的用词,使用范围广,无论是下级对上级,晚辈对长辈,学生对老师均可使用。ask用作及物动词,其后可接名词、代词、带或不带疑问词的动词不定式或that/wh-从句作宾语, that从句中常使用虚拟式。ask还可接以动词不定式充当补足语的复合宾语。ask也可接双宾语,这时两个宾语都是直接宾语,指物的直接宾语可由名词、代词、带疑问词的动词不定式或wh-从句充当。ask接两个宾语转换成被动结构时多以表示人的宾语作主语,且by可省略。此外还可接以副词或介词短语充当补足语的复合宾语。ask的宾语后常接介词短语表示附加意义,如接about表示询问的内容,接of表示询问的对象,接for表示索要的物品,接from表示“要求得到或见到”。ask也可用作不及物动词,其后一般接介词after〔for〕。ask after表示“问候”, ask for表示“要求得到或见到”。 用作动词(v.)
