in which用法

in which只能用在定语从句中，等于where在定语从句中作状语。比如：He lived in the house in which Tom once lived;He lived in the house where Tom once lived.

一、in which用法

1、in which：读音为英[?n w?t?]、美[?n w?t?]，意思为“在其中”。

根据which引导的从句而定，所以当从句中需要以in作介词时使用。

例句：The school in which he once studied is very famous.他曾经就读的这所学校很有名。

2、如果想要精确表达“在……里面”时，可以用in which来代替。

（1）在下列例句中也可以使用表示“in which”的连词where但in which是无法代替代词和不可数名词where

（2）in which只可以用在定语从句中，相当于where在定语从句中用作状语，一般where作连词时，含义比in which更广泛、更笼统。

例句：

①He lived in the house in which Tom once lived.他住在汤姆曾经住过的房子里。

②He lived in the house where Tom once lived.他住在汤姆曾经住过的房子里。

二、in which和where的用法区别

1、若是表示地点的词，那么就要用where但前提是没有介词。例如：The house where I live is beautibul.我住的房子很漂亮。

2、一般in which与where是相等的，而且都是修饰先行词是表示地点。例如：The house in which I live is beautibul.我住的房子很漂亮。

3、若出现下面两种情况时就不相等

（1）如果有in提前，那只能用which，而不能用where

①The house in( )I live is beautibul。句中的空格不能填where

②The house ( )I live in is beautibul。句中的空也不能填where因为后面有介词in，而where是副词，所以不能跟介词。

（2）如果这个是表示地点的先行词是人不可以到达的，那就不能用where

例如：要是先行词是在墙里的某个东西，那么就只能用in which，而不能用where了，因为我们是无法进去的。
