英语日记的格式与汉语相同。在正文上方自左起顶格写上日期、星期几和天气情况。正文另起一行，内容应有所选择，记有意义、感受最深的事，切忌流水账。有话则长无话则短，甚至三言两语亦可。通常采用一般过去时或可灵活运用。日记的写作格式如下：

　　1)注意日记的格式。应用第一人称来写。

　　2)多数句子为过去时，因为事情发生在过去。
